Mirjam Bekonja-Soklic is an English Teacher at Jovan Mikic Primary School for three years . She teaches students from 5th to 8th grade and enjoys everyday of it. She is a mother of 5 years old daughter named Korana and LIFELONG LEARNER !!!

She has BA in Economy and going to take master in Pedagogy (hopeful next year, 2007). In addition to teaching she volunteers at Youth Club in Subotica and helps the art-craft teacher in extra-curricular activities in school. Her mother tongue is Serbian and she speaks Slovenian, English and a little bit of French (constantly forgetting it). She fulfilled the Jonkoping University course(Sweden) , School of Education and Communication on Leadership and Developmental Youth Work (Pedagogy,A and B level) during

2003/2005 and met so many amazing people that make her notice that as we live, we grow and our beliefs change - they have to change and we should live with this constant discovery and be open to this adventure in heightened awareness of living. She has also organized workshops and trainings in her community on domestic violence and upgrading the job-seeking skills for unemployed youth and people that lost their jobs during the transition period ( that still lasts in her region). She has taken part in several in-service teacher training programs ( all seminars known as Serbia turning by British Council and Ministry of Education and Sports, Winter School, ELT Seminars by Longman, Cambridge etc.) She has taken part also at 4th IATEFL ELTA Conference, held in Belgrade. She likes to cook and eat of course, has a favourite sitcom CSI(Crime Scene

Investigators) likes to read detective stories and novels, goes to the movies but watch only kids` favourites, still playing with LEGO and believes in informal education and lifelong learning. She is also interested in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and TA (Transactual Analysis) as something very valuable for both the sake of the teacher and student.She thinks that education means freedom, a liberation of personality and strongly agrees with Martin Buber`s... the purpose of education is to develop the character of the pupil, to show him how to live humanly in society ...

HI everyone!

My name is Aleksandar Visnjic and I come from Subotica, a little town in the north of Serbia. I am twelve years old and I go to the 6th form of Jovan Mikic Primary School. I walk to school because it is in my street. I have lots of friends, but my best friend is Milutin. We have known each other for ten years now. We have a lot of different subjects at school, but my favourite subjects are Physics, PE, Maths and English. My friends and I like to play football and hockey whenever we can. I also like animals very much. I have got a pet. It is a dog called Kuca, and now she has got an even smaller dog, a spottied cute puppy. I have a computer and lots of computer games which I exchange with my friends. We like listening to good music, too. My favourite TV sitcom is The Simpsons, but I often watch foreign TV channels like Discovery and Travel. I would like to know more about children who live abroad. I have got some relatives in France so I would like to learn French. I think learning languages is fun and useful,too.
